Ask them "Whats wrong?" and pay attention. I try to connect with them, and if they don't want to talk right then, write a note. You could write a note if it doesn't get you in trouble.Try not to make them feel uncomfortable. If that doesn't work try giving them a BIG smile or a nice, big ,warm hug.
